Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions for Minced Beef Trottole Pasta

  • Begin by bringing a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil over high heat. Once boiling, add 10 ounces of trottole pasta and cook according to the package instructions, usually around 8-10 minutes until al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
  • In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Add 14 ounces of minced beef, breaking it apart. Season with salt and pepper, and cook for about 5-7 minutes until browned. Remove the beef and set aside.
  • Using the same skillet, add 1 cup of chopped onion and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until translucent. Stir in 3 cloves of minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Pour in 1 cup of diced tomatoes, 2 tablespoons of tomato paste, 1 teaspoon of Italian seasoning, and ¼ teaspoon of red pepper flakes. Stir and let simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Return the minced beef to the skillet, stirring to blend with the sauce. Fold in the trottole pasta, tossing until evenly coated.
  • Remove from heat and add ¼ cup each of chopped basil and parsley. Stir in the herbs just before serving.
  • Serve the pasta topped with grated parmesan cheese for a classic finish. Enjoy hot!
