For the Marinade

  • ¼ cup Soy Sauce adds umami flavor
  • ¼ cup Water balances the soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons Ginger sliced, provides warmth
  • 1 tablespoon Sugar adds sweetness

For the Fish

  • 1 pound Firm White Fish Fillets such as tilapia, sea bass, or snapper
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil infuses nutty flavor

Directions

  • Prepare the steamer by filling a pot with about an inch of water and setting a steaming basket or plate inside. Bring the water to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
  • Mix the marinade by combining soy sauce, water, sliced ginger, sesame oil, and sugar in a small bowl. Stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Place the fish fillets in the steaming basket and drizzle the marinade over the fish.
  • Cover the steamer and allow the fish to steam for about 10-15 minutes until the flesh turns opaque and flakes easily.
  • Carefully transfer the fish to a serving plate and pour remaining marinade over the top. Serve warm, optionally with additional soy sauce on the side.

Notes

Check for freshness of fish before cooking. Marinate for at least 10 minutes for enhanced flavor.
