  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a medium bowl, whisk together 2 ¼ cups of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon of baking soda, and 1 teaspoon of salt until blended.
  • In a large mixing bowl, cream together 1 cup of softened unsalted butter, ¾ cup of granulated sugar, and ¾ cup of packed brown sugar for 2-3 minutes until smooth and fluffy.
  • Add in 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 2 large eggs, beating one at a time until fully incorporated.
  • Gradually add the flour mixture to the creamy mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  • Fold in 2 cups of semisweet chocolate chips and 1 cup of chopped walnuts (if desired) using a spatula, mixing just until evenly distributed.
  • Using a spoon or cookie scoop, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto ungreased baking sheets, spaced about 2 inches apart.
  • Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until lightly browned around the edges.
