Equipment

  • Frying pan
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spoon
  • tongs

Ingredients

For the Shrimp Balls

  • ½ cup Shrimp, chopped Make sure to use fresh shrimp for the best flavor.
  • ¼ cup Breadcrumbs Opt for panko breadcrumbs for extra crunch.
  • ¼ cup Vegetables, finely chopped Feel free to add any veggies you like, such as bell peppers or carrots.
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic, minced Fresh garlic will give you the most aromatic flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Onion, minced A sweet onion enhances the savory profile of the balls.
  • 1 teaspoon Parsley, chopped Fresh herbs are ideal, but dried can work in a pinch.
  • ½ teaspoon Salt Adjust according to your taste preferences.
  • ½ teaspoon Black Pepper Freshly cracked pepper adds a wonderful kick.
  • 1 large Egg This binds the mixture together beautifully.

For Serving

  • Sweet Chili Sauce Perfect for dipping, it's a sweet and spicy complement to your crispy shrimp balls.

Instructions

Step-by-Step Instructions

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, breadcrumbs, optional finely chopped vegetables, minced garlic, minced onion, parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix everything together until well incorporated.
  • Crack the egg into the shrimp mixture and blend until combined. Ensure it's fully mixed in to keep your balls from falling apart.
  • Using your hands, scoop portions of the mixture and roll them into small balls, about the size of a golf ball. Place the formed balls on a plate.
  • Pour enough oil into a frying pan to cover the bottom generously and heat it over medium heat. The oil should reach around 350°F (175°C) for optimal frying results.
  • Carefully add the shrimp balls to the hot oil in batches, frying them for about 4–5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
  • Remove the shrimp balls from the pan and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil. Let them cool for a couple of minutes.
  • Present your crispy shrimp balls on a platter with a small bowl of sweet chili sauce for dipping. Enjoy!

Notes

Best enjoyed hot and fresh, serve immediately with sweet chili sauce for optimal taste.
