  • 1 cup Granulated sugar for the syrup
  • 1 cup Water to dissolve the sugar

  • 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon adds warmth
  • ½ teaspoon Ground nutmeg for aromatic flavor
  • ½ teaspoon Vanilla extract enhances sweetness
  • ¼ teaspoon Salt balances sweetness

For the Coating

  • 1 cup Additional granulated sugar for rolling cranberries

Step‑by‑Step Instructions

  • Combine 1 cup of granulated sugar and 1 cup of water in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until sugar dissolves and mixture gently boils, about 3-5 minutes.
  • Add rinsed cranberries to the boiling syrup and stir gently. Simmer on low heat for about 10 minutes.
  • Whisk together ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, vanilla extract, and salt in a small bowl.
  • Remove saucepan from heat and stir in the spice mixture until cranberries are evenly coated.
  • Strain cranberries using a fine-mesh sieve to remove excess syrup.
  • Spread strained cranberries on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let cool for 15 minutes.
  • Once cooled, toss cranberries in 1 cup of granulated sugar until well coated.
  • Return coated cranberries to the baking sheet and allow to dry for an hour.
  • Transfer dried cranberries to an airtight container for storage.

Notes

Store in an airtight container for up to 1 week at room temperature, or refrigerate for 2 weeks. Can be frozen for up to 3 months.
